Christian Education was mandated by our Lord Jesus Christ when He said, "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations..." (Matthew 28:19a KJV) Emphasized by Richard Allen, the first Bishop and Founder of the AME Church, Christian education is one of the church's foundational pillars. Exemplifying the importance of Christian education, Richard Allen organized the first African-American Sunday School in 1794.
At Adams Chapel, "Christian education undergirds all the other ministries of the Church". It is realized through the preached word, new members classes, Sunday morning Church School, Wednesday night Bible Study, Saturday Christian Education, and other teaching sessions at our various meetings, programs, seminars, and ministries. In addition, we have seminars and training at various district and connectional meetings. See our links and events for additional information.
